MCO security screening is moving efficiently overall this week. The most recent reports show wait times under 15 minutes for most travelers (Tue Mar 24, 10:31 AM through 6:55 AM). Early morning departures have been particularly quick, with multiple travelers reporting 90-second to 5-minute waits (Tue Mar 24, 8:24 AM and 6:55 AM; Mon Mar 23, 5:57 PM). TSA PreCheck and CLEAR users continue to see notably faster processing, with one traveler clearing security in 15 seconds (Mon Mar 23, 5:57 PM).
The exception came on Monday afternoon: Terminal South Standard hit 30 minutes during midday hours (Mon Mar 23, 1:23 PM), about 15 minutes above typical, driven by spring break travel volumes. However, even during peak afternoon times on Monday, most travelers reported 10-15 minute waits (Mon Mar 23, 10:46 PM, 12:57 PM, 12:37 PM). Sunday afternoon saw similar congestion with 30-minute waits (Sun Mar 22, 4:42 PM), while early morning was faster at 10 minutes for PreCheck (Sun Mar 22, 5:36 AM).
Arrive 1.5–2 hours before domestic departure times. If you have TSA PreCheck or CLEAR, you can plan closer to 1 hour. Early morning flights (before 7 AM) have consistently short waits, while afternoon departures during spring break may see longer lines. MCO also offers a TSA Family Line for travelers with children under 12.
