TSA Watch: EWR

As of Tuesday, March 24 at 12:19 PM ET, TSA wait times at EWR have spiked significantly above normal. The airport-wide average is 56 minutes compared to a typical 9 minutes—a difference of +47 minutes. Terminal B is experiencing the worst delays, with waits reaching 83 minutes (Tue Mar 24, 12:03 PM), more than 10 times the typical 8-minute wait for that terminal.

However, wait times vary dramatically by terminal and time of day. Early morning (before 10 AM) showed more manageable delays of 25 minutes across the airport (Tue Mar 24, 10:16 AM and 6:54 AM). Terminal A and Terminal C have reported significantly shorter waits: Terminal A saw waits as low as 4 minutes (Tue Mar 24, 8:35 AM), and Terminal C travelers using TSA PreCheck reported no wait or under 20 minutes (Tue Mar 24, 1:26 PM and 10:22 AM). Travelers with PreCheck and Clear have experienced notably faster processing, with some clearing security in 16 minutes even during busier periods (Tue Mar 24, 5:21 AM).

Plan to arrive at least 90 minutes early if using standard security, especially if traveling through Terminal B during midday hours (10 AM–2 PM). If you have TSA PreCheck or Clear, you can expect significantly shorter waits—aim for 45–60 minutes early. Early morning arrivals (before 9 AM) consistently report faster processing across all terminals.
